In a repeat of last year's Indian Wells final, Carlos Alcaraz defeated Daniil Medvedev to lift this year's trophy, with more fans tuning in to watch the encounter than from the 2023 edition.
Alcaraz overcame a challenging first set from his Russian opponent to prevail in a close tiebreak, before cruising through the second and recording a 7-6(5) 6-1 victory. This enabled the reigning Wimbledon champion to successfully defend his title, and keep his dream of winning the Sunshine Double alive.
According to statistics by Sports Media Watch, the men's final drew 487,000 average viewership this year, as compared to 351,000 for last year's final between the same opponents. Conversely, the ladies final between World No.1 Iga Swiatek and Greek star Maria Sakkari attracted 249,000 viewers. However, last year's final between Elena Rybakina and Australian Open champion Aryna Sabalenka drew 326,000 viewers, showing that fewer people tuned in to watch the conclusion of the ladies event this year.
