Australian tennis star
Alex De Minaur is in a relationship with British tennis player
Katie Boulter, but the duo may be facing some hard times if they clash at the upcoming
United Cup, according to former Australia Davis Cup captain Wally Masur.
The United Cup will run from December 29, 2023 -January 4, 2024, with Australia landing in the same group as defending champions USA and Great Britain.
Masur jokingly states the potential clash could be bad for their relationship
Although the couple have never faced each other on the court, they could go head-to-head during the mixed doubles rubber of the United Cup.
"It could be the end of a beautiful relationship," joked Masur at the draw in Sydney on Monday. "It will be interesting how it plays out because Matty Ebden and Storm Hunter are there so we've got plenty of options for the mixed doubles."
"Alex might be in a situation where he plays three sets against Cam Norrie and maybe it's not in his best interests to back up and play the mixed. But him playing Boulter would add a bit of spice."
The couple teamed up for this year's Wimbledon mixed doubles event, where they lost in the round of 16.
