The WTA Ranking has been updated today, Monday, October 23, with Elena Rybakina re-entering the Top 4 while Leylah Fernandez and Katerina Siniakova both rose substantially.
2022 Wimbledon champion Rybakina has returned to the Top 4 after she previously dropped to No. 5 earlier in the season. The Kazakhstani player did not compete this week but had a successful run to the semi-finals of the China Open two weeks ago and now has 5955 points.
She switched places with Jessica Pegula who went down to fifth with 4895 points despite winning the WTA 250 Korea Open last week.
Meanwhile, Maria Sakkari has dropped three places to No. 9. The Greek player appeared to be on the rise a few weeks ago when she won the WTA 1000 Guadalajara Open, but a first-round defeat to Qinwen Zheng at the Zhengzhou Open last week has caused her to drop slightly.
Elsewhere in the Top 10, Marketa Vondrousova rose two places to No. 6 while her compatriot Karolina Muchova went up one spot to No. 8. However, the biggest change was Caroline Garcia falling ten places to No. 20. This not only meant that she exited the Top 10 but that she now also risks leaving the Top 20 at the end of what has been a difficult season for the French player.
In her place, Barbora Krejcikova rose three places to No. 10 while Daria Kasatkina fell six places to No. 17.
Outside of the top 20, Fernandez rose eight places to re-enter the Top 40 at No. 35. The Canadian player has been on a roll over the last couple of weeks, winning her first title in eighteen months at the Hong Kong Open before reaching the semi-final of the Jiangxi Open on Saturday.
Moreover, the newly-crowned Jiangxi Open champion Siniakova, who has a career-best ranking of No. 31, rose fourteen places to re-enter the Top 50 at No. 46.
2017 US Open champion Sloane Stephens risks falling out of the Top 50 after she dropped ten places to No. 49, while the 2019 champion Bianca Andreescu, who has not competed since August due to a back injury, fell fourteen places to No. 92.
The biggest mover in the Top 100 was Tamara Korpatsch, whose victory at the Winners Open this week saw her rise 34 places to re-enter the Top 100 at No. 71.
