After Maria Sharapova ended her career in February, she was not seen in a tennis world a lot, now she spoke about country which is the most affected by the Coronavirus.

Sharapova's coach in years 2019-2020 was the Italian Riccardo Piatti. Therefore, Maria spent a lot of time practicing also in Italy and knows Italian culture. About her relationship with Italy, she said:
“I was introduced to Italy as a little girl and fell in love with it immediately. In all fairness, it is very hard not to fall in love with. In the past year, I spent most of my training in Italy and considered it my second home. I ate more pasta Genovese than anyone should be allowed to. I met new friends and a team that significantly impacted my outlook on my value of quality of work. By looking back, I am also positively dreaming of the future. Visiting our friends for a sunset swim in Amalfi, my little family in Bordighera for a spritz and salame board, and the crowded streets through Rome which I will never take for granted. As we navigate through so many unknowns together, let’s do with kindness, love, and optimism. All the beautiful qualities Italy has shared with me."
Sharapova also shared a picture of herself on a walk during the Coronavirus outbreak. People should not meet others very much and Sharapova fulfills this social distancing by going to nature.
"Beach cove social distancing for a few minutes of fresh air and back for home cooked stuffed cabbage (one of my favorites ?), a few too many dishwater loads ?, and a touching ‘Very Ralph’ documentary. Please share your favorite movies/documentaries.."
