The coronavirus pandemic is still ongoing and while tennis is slowly getting back Patrick Mouratoglou thinks that plans to hold the US Open in September are a bit "crazy". Speaking to Sky Sports Mouratoglou expressed his concerns especially with the recent spike in cases that have been recorded in the US. He said:

"With what has been happening in the US, with the number of COVID-19 cases going higher and higher, I don't think how that can happen. From the outside, it looks a bit crazy to make it happen, so I don't know if it's a good move. I wouldn't say that if the situation was a bit more stable like in Europe, it would be a different story."

He also expressed skepticism in the commitment of the governor of the state of New York towards holding the event. As Patrick put it for the governor the safety of the people of that state is of greater importance. He is not the only one who expressed concern over the situation. However, as a well-known coach who has the ear of many players his stance could greatly impact the tournament itself. For now, the US Open is set to held and we will see how the situation will unfold.
