Rafael Nadal may be out for the rest of the season including the US Open due to his foot injury but that hasn't prevented him from taking part this weekend in the Balearic Mid-Amateur Golf Championship.
Nadal started the weekend as favourite due to his handicap but finished tied for sixth place with 153 points overall.
A well-known past time while Nadal is back home in Spain, he played in the Balearic Golf Championship last October and finished 10 shots away from the winner, Sebastian Garcia in the same sixth spot.

The whole idea of giving out wildcards is to give new & up-coming players a chance at getting as much circuit match-practice under their belts as possible. And this is a HUGE must and opportunity for these new kids on the block. Why curtail opportunities for these newbies in favour of stalwart monopoly?? That just isn't fair. At least give these lesser known players a chance to become more familiar at playing in bigger tournaments & give them also a chance of getting the crowds behind these underdogs.
