Rublev defeats Murray to win Mubadala World Tennis Championships in Abu Dhabi

Andrey Rublev has won the Mubadala World Tennis Championships in Abu Dhabi after defeating Andy Murray in a quality tie to finish proceedings.

Rublev won 6-4, 7-6 (2) in just over an hour and a half as Murray continues his comeback with some good match practice against the World No.5.

Both will now head to the Australian Open having shown some good form in the UAE in the past week, with Denis Shapovalov finishing third after defeating Rafael Nadal earlier today.

The first set was the matter of one break with Rublev taking it on the second break point to go 3-2 up before he edged through the set on his own serve 6-4 (40-15).

It was a lot closer in the second with Rublev taking an opening game break before Murray came from 40-15 down to make it 4-4. It went all the way from a tiebreak from there on out.

Rublev went 4-0 up and staved off a late revival from Murray who lost out 7-2 in the tiebreak.
