Aryna Sabalenka will not take part in her post match press conference after defeating Kamilla Rakhimova at the French Open citing 'mental health and well-being' as the reasoning.
Sabalenka sealed a 6-2, 6-2 win earlier today, but refused to answer questions surrounding President Lukashenko and her support for him while Belarusians were getting tortured previously.
In the end, the press conference after her second round win was stopped with the same journalist also asking about the war in Ukraine in her first round drawing the ire of the World Number Two.
Now she won't do any media at all as per Stuart Fraser, it harks back to the incident surrounding Naomi Osaka in 2021 where she refused to do media for a similar reason and had to withdraw from the tournament in the end.
"For my own mental health and well-being, I have decided to take myself out of this situation today, and the tournament has supported me in this decision," said Sabalenka as per Fraser.
She next plays in the fourth round for the first time on Sunday.
