Serena
Williams has achieved the second spot among the most searched black women according
to the website ThatSister.
The lifestyle
website conducted an analysis of the most searched and influential black women
on Google in 2022. Some of the notable women included Beyonce, Michelle Obama,
and Meghan Markle. Tennis legend
Serena Williams had 1.6 million monthly
searches, and was only surpassed by the movie star Zendaya, who had 2.7 million
searches. Following former world No.1 Serena Williams are Jada Pinkett-Smith,
Oprah Winfrey, Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, and Whoopi Goldberg.
The 23-time
Grand Slam champion recently received praise from players of the NBA's
Philadelphia 76ers. During Women's History Month, the players remembered
Williams, hailing her as 'the greatest athlete of all time' and a 'sports
legend':
"She's
the GOAT, hands down like it's not even debatable. She might be the greatest
athlete of all time, period! It takes a tremendous amount of sacrifice amongst
other things to be able to do what she does. She's an inspiration,"
said Shake Milton.
Another
player who highlighted Williams was James Harden:
"You
know, we're from the same place, both from Compton," asserted the
33-year-old. "So, the amount of distraction is crazy and for her to make
it out of Compton and recognize as the best female player to touch a racket and
not even just tennis but she's a sports icon, sports legend in general."
