Sudden heartbreak for former Wimbledon star and current commentator Annabel Croft as husband passes weeks after cancer diagnosis

Former Wimbledon star and current commentator, Annabel Croft has had to deal with sudden heartbreak with her husband Mel Coleman passing away only weeks after a Stage Three cancer diagnosis.

Croft who met Coleman shortly after walking away from the sport after reaching the third round in 1984 of Wimbledon got the sudden news recently after he complained of stomach problems.

The former professional yachtsman had a tennis school also with Croft and they traveled around in a converted former delivery van on walking holidays which they showcased online.

"My beloved husband Mel passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning after a short battle with cancer," said Croft, 56. "My family and I are completely heartbroken and ask for privacy at this very sad time."

"Tragic. So sad, always watched her at Wimbledon, amazing lady, so sad, heartbreaking, thoughts with Annabel and all family and loved ones," one posted.

Another wrote: "Dear Annabel, I’m so sad to hear about your beloved husband. Sending you, your families and friends, my condolences, much love and strength. May your husband’s sleep be peaceful."
