Garbine Muguruza is away from tennis right now taking a break from the sport but off the court, she was very busy enjoying time with family and friends.
Recharging batteries is very important for every person, even more so for athletes. That's why we're seeing more and more athletes take a few months away from their sport with tennis seeing that in the likes of Muguruza, Andreescu and Anisimova recently. Muguruza had a really tough year last year and this year didn't start that much better. It prompted her to take a break from the sport and recharge properly.

Besides spending time with family and friends in her native Spain, Muguruza also got a chance to spend a lot more time with her partner. She recently confirmed in an interview that he proposed with the wedding planned for next year. Not much is known is about the plans other than it's going to be in Spain and on the beach.
She further admitted that the proposal itself was very romantic:
“It felt weird. I was thinking of something else and then when he proposed I started crying. I didn’t know how to react. I said yes in the midst of tears, it was very romantic”

Muguruza has no idea when she'll be back to tennis as there is not set date for her return. For the time being, spending time with family and friends is certainly something she's enjoying quite a lot and tennis is not on her mind right now. Wimbledon is unlikely so perhaps the US Open might be a target to return if she doesn't choose to misse the entire year.
Time will tell what will happen but for now the wedding is the only thing she's certain about in her near future.
