Dominic Thiem lost in his seventh appearance at the Austrian Pro Series to world number 163, Sebastian Ofner.
World number 3 in the ATP Ranking,
Dominic Thiem triumphed in the first 6 matches of the Austrian Pro Series. During almost 2 weeks, he defeated Miedler, Kopp, Pichler, Melzer Rodionov and Hampel.
In his seventh match at the tournament, the Austrian no. 1 faced
Sebastian Ofner who is currently the third-best Austrian tennis player. Ofner lost only 1 match at the tournament and he continued in a similar style also against Thiem.
After Thiem didn't convert setpoint in the 12th game of the 1st set, Ofner took his chance in the tie-break to get the lead in the match. In the second set, however, Thiem leveled the score of the match.
But the lower-ranked Austrian didn't stop fighting as he got the break in the first game of the third set. The third set didn't see any more breakpoints as Ofner triumphed 7-6, 6-7, 6-4 to capture the victory over highest-ranked player in his career.
