In a recent interview with Krone Sport, Dominic Thiem expressed his opinion on donating money to lower-ranked players during Tour suspension.

One of the most discussed topics during the suspension of the ATP Tour is the financial struggles of lower-ranked players. Many attempted to help players as also ATP, WTA, ITF and Grand Slams united to help the players.
There was also an idea, that players from Top 100 should donate money to lower-ranked players according to their ranking. It should have been $30,000 for the members of Top 5 where Dominic Thiem belongs. However, the Austrian expressed disapproval with this idea.
"None of the top guys got this gifted. Everyone had to fight to get to the top. Also, you have to be honest, none of the tennis players who are ranked at the bottom are fighting for their lives. None of them are going to starve. And I know the Future-Tour very well, I played there for two years as well. There are definitely a lot of players who don't give everything to the sport. They don't live that professionally and don't play the sport that professionally like they should," Thiem said.
"To be honest, I don't really see why I should give money to players like that. So I'll be honest, I'd rather give my money to people or organizations who would really need the money," Thiem said as reported by José Morgado on Twitter.
