Serena Williams receives praise from a commercial
director who has worked with some of the best athletes in the world.
23-time Grand slam champion Serena Williams is one of the
best tennis players in history and is undoubtedly an icon of world sports. The former
world No. 1 retired from professional tennis at the last Us Open, where she was
defeated by Australian Ajla Tomljanovic, however comments highlighting the
athlete continue to appear.
This time it was notorious TV commercial director Joe
Pytka, who has worked with some of the greatest athletes in their sports
history, including Muhammad Ali, Stephen Curry, Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods.
He has also had some collaborations with other players in the world of tennis, such
as Jimmy Connors,
Jim Courier,
John McEnroe, John Newcombe,
Maria Sharapova and
Gabriela Sabatini.
Pytka highlighted Serena Williams among the athletes
they have worked with:
“Serena had this power
and charisma that was overwhelming, more than any athlete I’d ever worked
with,” the 82 years-old director said.
“The first time I commented on her stroke
looking a little strange, her handler told me she was hitting left-handed. We
had to get a male pro to hit with her because the female pro we had hired
couldn’t get the ball back properly. She is the most impressive athlete I have
worked with, male or female. Magic.”
Likewise, her former
coach
Patrick Mouratoglou recently commented on Twitter in a publication regarding the "Goat", and put Williams as the best female tennis player in history.
