During the Cincinnati Open (Western & southern Open),
some fans were of the opinion that they had a realistic chance of beating some
of the tennis greats.
The tournament recently concluded with a grand finale
between Serbia’s legendary tennis star Novak Djokovic and the current world
number one Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz.
It was the 23-time Grand Slam winner who came out on top in
a three-set thriller which last over three hours with a score of 5-7, 7-6, 7-6
on Sunday.
During the competition, a video was posted by Tennis Channel
where fans shared their thoughts that they have a realistic chance of beating
the likes of the former world number one
Andy Roddick and former German tennis
star
Andrea Petkovic.
Roddick, who became the world number one back in 2003, ended
his career after winning just a single Grand Slam which was the US Open in the
same year.
He defeated Spain’s Juan Carlos Ferrero in the final to
achieve that feat with a score of 6–3, 7–6(7–2), 6–3.
On the other hand, Petkovic ended her career after winning
seven WTA singles titles. Her most notable performance in the mega-event came
during the French Open in 2014 where she was knocked out after losing to
Romania’s Simona Halep with a score of 6-2, 7-6.
