Boris Becker has announced the launch of his fashion line, saying "now you can dress like Boris Becker."
German tennis legend Boris Becker has launched his own fashion line, using his name for the brand. He is renowned for his sporting achievements, including sixty-four overall titles, six Grand Slam victories, and the record for the youngest man to win
Wimbledon, where he took home the trophy for the first time in 1985 aged just 17.
However, the star's life has certainly had its ups and downs, and recently he has been under the spotlight for more controversial reasons. Last year, he underwent an eight-month stint in a UK prison for hiding £2.5 million of assets and loans in a bankruptcy fraud case. The 55-year-old has also been locked in a divorce battle with his ex-wife Sharlely (Lilly) Becker.
A positive venture
Despite his recent scandals, Becker appears to still be working to achieve success, now in the world of fashion.
He made the announcement of his new line on Instagram, referencing his monumental tennis career with a fun caption:
"Maybe you can't play tennis like Boris Becker, but now you can dress like Boris Becker."
Some of the responses have been very positive, with one Instagram user saying that "Everyone deserves a chance to participate in life again. Hopefully, everything works out and he comes back to peace." Meanwhile, another called Becker "Daniel Craig’s German half brother."
Previous experience in the industry
This isn't the first time that the former world No. 1 has branched out into fashion. In 2020, he worked with German fashion company Fashion Concept to develop a line of casual wear. These included t-shirts, jackets and footwear.
However, after what has been a difficult year, could this signal a positive change in Becker's controversial trajectory?
