Lilly Becker has claimed that her ex-husband and the former
world number one
Boris Becker hid horses in the bedroom from debt collectors.
The 55-year-old was jailed last year for nearly eight months
after hiding assets worth of more than £2.5million despite being declared bankrupt.
Lilly, while speaking in an upcoming documentary of ITVX, revealed that the former German tennis star hid horses in the
mantion in Mallorca in 2017, nearly the same time when he declared bankruptcy.
"The guy tries to go into the master bedroom but Boris
had hid the horses,” she said. “You have to pay taxes on them and he hadn’t. “You
see the funny side of the story because you walk into the bedroom and there’s a
horse. I’m sorry, that’s funny."
Becker remains one of the most successful players in the
history of men’s tennis in the Open era, having won three out of the four Grand
Slams in his career.
The only Grand Slam where he failed to lift the title was the
French Open where his best performance was reaching the semifinals stage three
times — in 1987, 1989 and 1991.
Becker ended up winning six Grand Slams in his illustrious
career that lasted for 15 years where in total he won 49 singles titles.
The Leimen-born, who was also added to the International
Tennis Hall of Fame in 2003, has the best record while playing at
Wimbledon.
He won three Grand Slam titles in London — in 1985 when after
defeating Americas’ Kevin Curren with a score of 6–3, 6–7, 7–6, 6–4, in 1986 after
thrashing Czech Republic’s Ivan Lendl with a score of 6–4, 6–3, 7–5 and then three
years later in 1989 after winning the final against Sweden’s Stefan Edberg with
a sore of 6–0, 7–6, 6–4.
