Felix Auger Aliassime Wimbledon 2019
Boris Becker shares his concern for Felix Auger-Aliassime and is unsure of the reasons why the player's form has dropped.
A year ago, Auger-Aliassime was one of the most exciting players on the ATP Tour. After reaching the quarterfinals of the 2022 Australian Open, he took Rafael Nadal to five sets in the fourth round of that year's Roland-Garros. The Canadian was only the third player to do so at what is famously known as Nadal's best tournament, after Novak Djokovic and John Isner.
His success continued throughout most of last season, as he obtained a 16-match winning streak, the second longest of the season after Nadal's 20 victories.
However, Auger-Aliassime has unexpectedly had a miserable experience this season. Despite maintaining a current world ranking of No. 12, he has a 13-12 win-loss record. He also went out in the first round of this year's French Open, and most recently lost his opening match against lucky loser Michael Mmoh at Wimbledon.
The pair were locked in an intense four-hour and seven-minute battle, but the world No. 118 took the win 7-6 (4), 6-7 (4), 7-6 (4), 6-4, leaving Auger-Aliassime behind in the first round.

Becker unclear as to reason

The 55-year-old tennis legend acknowledged that 'something went wrong' for the former world No. 6 during a questions and answers session on Instagram. A user asked him,
"Why do you think Felix Auger form has slumped so much?"
Becker made it clear that he did not know the reasons behind the 22-year-old's lack of success, but did agree that there is a problem,
"something went wrong on his way to heaven only he knows!", he wrote.

Hopes to see him back on form

The six-time Grand Slam champion went on to praise Auger-Aliassime, saying he hopes to see him back on form soon,
"Big fan of him, and hopefully he finds out soon what happened", Becker included in his reply.
