Amanda Anisimova has shared an update amid her indefinite break from the sport.
At the age of 22, the American player already has two WTA titles under her belt and has reached a career-high ranking of No. 21. However, in May of this year, Anisimova announced that she was taking a break from tennis to focus on her mental health.
At the time, Anisimova posted about her hiatus on Instagram, explaining that she was feeling burned out to the point that she couldn't bear competing in tennis tournaments.
"Hey guys. I thought I’d make a post explaining what’s been going on and my plans. I’ve really been struggling with my mental health and burnout since the summer of 2022. It’s become unbearable being at tennis tournaments.
"At this point my priority is my mental well-being and taking a break for some time. I’ve worked as hard as I could to push through it. I will miss being out there, and I appreciate all the continuous support," she wrote.

Anisimova makes potential hint at comeback

Although she has not yet announced any potential dates for a comeback, Anisimova has posted a video of her back on the court for a practice session, captioning it:
"Second day back at it #changedperspective."
This appears to suggest that she is re-finding her love for the sport, which could mean a potential return to the sport in the future.
However, it is clear that Anisimova also wants to enjoy her life away from the sport, as in August she announced that she is studying at the Nova Southeastern University in Florida as a student-athlete.
In the video, Anisimova is seen warming up and practicing accompanied by the song Beautiful Pain by Eminem featuring Sia.
