Roger Federer permanently decided to hang up his tennis racket and call it a career, the Swiss Maestro's father, Robert, opened up on what he misses most following his son's retirement and spoke about how much time he spent with his grandchildren.
The 20-time Grand Slam champion said farewell to the tennis world at the 2022 Laver Cup, ending an illustrious career that spanned close to two and a half decades. During this time, his wife, Mirka and father, Robert were often seen accompanying him on tournaments and cheering from the stands.
There is a lot less traveling in the Federer household, according to Robert
In a recent interview with Schweizer Illustrierte, Robert Federer spoke about life after his son's retirement and confessed to missing traveling to various tournament sites.
"We travel a lot less than before, I miss that,” he said. "Most important thing, we like to go to the mountains with the grandchildren. To the Appenzellerland or to Valbella."
The 77-year-old has six grandchildren, Federer’s two sets of twins - Leo, Lenny, Charlene and Myla, and the tennis legend’s older sister Diana’s twins.
