Western & Southern Open reportedly planning to move from Cincinnati home to Charlotte

The Western & Southern Open could move from its home of Cincinnati, OH to Charlotte, NC under new plans from owners of the tournament, Beemok Sports and Entertainment.

A staple of the pre US Open calendar, it has had roots in Cincinnati dating back to 1899 and moved to its current area in 1979 with a huge loss to the midwest if this move does come off.

The company behind the tournament plans to build a $400m tennis complex in West Charlotte and will mean a permanent home for the tournament.

Caroline Garcia and Borna Coric won the titles last year and it could bee one of the final years in Cincinnati this time around.
