Wimbledon is not thinking about introducing a medical exemption for unvaccinated players so Djokovic won't need to worry about that but he might need to do a quarantine.
Novak Djokovic
is unlikely to encounter stern resistance to his arrival in the UK when
he travels to London for the Wimbledon Championships this summer. The report comes from 'I' who got confirmation by the event directly. Djokovic is currently quarantined in a hotel awaiting an appeal hearing over the decision by Australian Border Force to cancel his visa on Wednesday.
The
world No 1 believed he had been granted a medical exemption from the
requirement to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19, but border
officials reportedly cast doubt on the documents he provided as proof. However, 'I' understands there are no current plans to enforce similar requirements at Wimbledon, which is due to start in London on Monday 27 June.
As
part of the UK Government’s Events Research Programme (ERP), spectators
at last year’s event were required to show proof of either full
vaccination or a negative lateral flow test with 48 hours of arrival on
site. This time around, sources have told 'i' that the All England Club (AELTC) is currently planning to fall in line with government guidelines, rather than mirroring Australian Open organizers who have added their own extra layer of authorization.
