Caroline Wozniacki on ESPN says one big reason she is returning is to hopefully win an Olympic medal next year. Hopes to play in singles and mixed doubles with Holger Rune. #Wimbledon
While the 2024 Olympic Games are sometime away, the impending return of Caroline Wozniacki saw her reveal that her intention was to play in Paris next year as a big reason behind her retirement U-turn.
After meeting up at Roland Garros, Denmark's current main hope in Holger Rune could form part of a dream team and Wozniacki in an interview with ESPN shared her hopes to play mixed doubles with him.
Rune was asked about it before Wimbledon and said: "For sure, If she want, I want." which Wozniacki responded to saying "It's great. Now we have it on tape."
All this will depend on where Wozniacki also places in the rankings on her return whether or not she claims the spot as she has stated she wants to play both doubles and singles.
She will begin her comeback quest nearly a year before at the US Open this Autumn and will play Montreal prior with the Australian Open also on her list.
She will likely also receive wildcards to further tournaments given her status as a former World No.1 and Grand Slam champion.
