Morgan Riddle has issued a forceful public response to what she describes as a surge of “misogynistic comments” directed at women connected to professional athletes. The social media personality, who previously dated world No. 9
Taylor Fritz, addressed the issue through a series of statements posted on
her Instagram stories.
Riddle, who built a large online following documenting aspects of life on the ATP Tour, said the criticism she receives has intensified following the
end of her relationship with Fritz earlier this year, reportedly in April. Her content previously focused on behind-the-scenes travel and tournament life alongside the American player.
The latest remarks reflect a broader escalation in tone from Riddle, who has increasingly engaged with gender-based criticism directed at her online presence. She argues that the responsibility for abusive behaviour is often misdirected toward women rather than the men posting such comments.
In a detailed statement, she challenged what she sees as systemic normalisation of misogynistic language on social media, particularly from users who appear to have personal connections to women, including daughters, sisters, or partners.
Riddle condemns misogynistic online behaviour
Riddle’s central message focused on the responsibility of individuals posting abusive content online, arguing that the issue is not about women responding to it, but about why it is produced in the first place.
"The thing I hate most about sending misogynistic comments to wives, girlfriends, sisters, and mothers is that it once again places the burden on women and I don't think it's a woman's job to manage a grown man's behavior,” Riddle wrote on her Instagram stories. “But I do think people should know how the men in their lives treat women when they think no one is watching.”
Riddle further escalated her criticism, saying she feels conflicted about publicly exposing such behaviour but believes the responsibility lies with those who write the comments rather than those who receive them.
"And I'm actually pissed that I feel guilty when I send these but the real question isn't why I'm exposing these comments it's why SO. MANY. MEN. with daughters, sisters, wives feel comfortable writing them in the first place.”
“A random stranger telling a man his behavior is unacceptable may not matter to him but maybe someone whose opinion he values might. Anyways they should be embarrassed and I will continue to embarrass them. I get flack for being more and more anti-man but you losers force me into it!!!"
Morgan Riddle outlines “non-negotiables” after relationship with Fritz ends
Riddle’s comments come in the context of increased scrutiny following the end of her relationship with Fritz earlier this year. During their relationship, she frequently appeared at tournaments and documented aspects of life on the ATP Tour, contributing to her visibility within tennis media spaces.
Following the breakup, she has continued to maintain a strong public profile while also addressing criticism more directly.
In an interview with
Elle she claimed that she would not consider dating another professional athlete, outlining strict personal criteria for future relationships. "I made, like, a 33-point non-negotiables list for it has basic things like political alignment, shared life goals, intellectual intimacy, no sports betting or gambling, only makes my life happier."
The comments do not include a direct reference to Fritz, although they leave open interpretation regarding the end of the relationship. The 2024 US Open runner-up has not publicly responded to the remarks of his former partner.
Fritz back in form after layoff: reaches consecutive finals on grass
Meanwhile, Fritz recently returned to the ATP Tour after a brief absence due to injury. The American No. 2 paused his season during the clay swing to recover, missing Roland Garros as part of a two-month layoff from competition.
He re-entered competition during the grass swing and immediately produced a deep run, reaching the final of the Stuttgart Open, where he lost to compatriot Ben Shelton. He later avenged that result at Halle, eliminating Shelton in the quarter-finals and advancing to a second consecutive final.
This Sunday, Fritz is scheduled to face Frances Tiafoe in another all-American final, competing for his first title of the season.
