Naomi Osaka saw off Coco Gauff in a dominating performance 6-3, 6-0 allowing the 15-year old to win only three games in the whole contest as she showed in many ways why she is the defending champion at the US Open.

Next up for Osaka will be Belinda Bencic who has more time to prepare due to having a walkover in her tie against Anett Kontaveit.
Also through as reported yesterday include the likes of Bianca Andreescu, Elise Mertens and Taylor Townsend who join Naomi Osaka in the second week.
Kristie Ahn showed her promise and why she deserved a wildcard by also moving through upsetting Jelena Ostapenko also. The American made her debut in the tournament in 2008 as a wildcard but has only came to prominence recently and has been the real outsider for the title this week; can she go all the way?
Julia Goerges caused another shock in the third round easing past Dutch ace, Kiki Bertens 6-2, 6-3 meaning the seventh seed is now gone. Next up for the German is 23rd seed Donna Vekic who defeated Yulia Putintseva.
