2021 Gippsland Trophy Draw released with Halep, Osaka, Svitolina

Both ATP and WTA players will have a good opportunity to warm-up ahead of the first Grand Slam of the 2021 season, women will do so at the 2021 Gippsland Trophy as we know the draw.

The tournament will be played alongside another WTA 500 event taking place in Melbourne - Yarra Valley Classic. Both events will go on from 31st January - 6th February 2021 and will feature some of the top stars of the WTA world. The draw for the 2021 Gippsland Trophy brought a lot of interesting matchups, including players such as Simona Halep, Naomi Osaka and Elina Svitolina.

Similar to the other WTA tournament, the first ten seeded players received a bye and so they can look forward to their second-round matches. The first-seeded Simona Halep will take on Whitney Osuigwe or Anastasia Potapova. Naomi Osaka, who is seeded second, will play against Ajla Tomljanovic or Alize Cornet, and no. 3, Elina Svitolina will meet Andrea Petkovic or Martina Trevisan.

While the fourth-seeded Aryna Sabalenka will clash with Astra Sharma or Kaia Kanepi in the second round, there are also some interesting first-round matchups, which include Coco Gauff who will take on Jil Teichmann and Jelena Ostapenko vs. Sara Errani.
