The second WTA 1000 tournament of the season starts in Miami on March 23, gathering almost every player from the top and guaranteeing exciting matches right from the start.
Ashleigh Barty won the title in Miami in 2019, and she is the top seed ahead of the Australian Open champion Naomi Osaka and Simona Halep. In the top quarter, Barty will face Alison Riske, the three-time champion Victoria Azarenka, Belinda Bencic, Marketa Vondrousova and the 7th seed Aryna Sabalenka in the battle for the semis, with Venus Williams and Danielle Collins waiting for their chances as the unseeded players.
Simona Halep and Elina Svitolina lead packed second quarter, with Halep facing Cori Gauff in the third round. Madison Keys, Iga Swiatek, Petra Kvitova and Ekaterina Alexandrova will also seek their chances, alongside some lower-ranked players who will try to spoil the favorites' party and advance into the semis.
Major champions Bianca Andreescu and Sofia Kenin are the players to beat in the third quarter, alongside Amanda Anisimova, Garbine Muguruza, Jennifer Brady and Elena Rybakina. Naomi Osaka and Karolina Pliskova lead the field in the bottom quarter, with Maria Sakkari and Elise Mertens as their main rivals.
