The 2021
Tenerife Ladies Open will be the first edition of the event with
Elina Svitolina headlining the solid field.
The WTA 250 event was added to this year's calendar in order to fill it out and it remains to be seen whether the event remains in the calendar going forward. For the first edition, the field is a rather solid one especially during the same week that Moscow is holding the VTB Kremlin Cup. As it's the first edition there is no defending champion with top seed Elina Svitolina hoping to make herself the first one.
Her campaign will kick off against Osorio Serrano, a tricky youngster who does not perform well on the hard courts yet. After that Svitolina might be looking at a 3rd round match against Clara Tauson and that would be a proper delight. The 2nd seed
Tamara Zidansek will face a qualifier in the first round with Zhang or Cornet waiting down the line.
Sara Sorribes Tormo will fight for Spanish pride on the Spanish island and her campaign will start off against Gracheva. The 4th seed is Camila Giorgi who is yet to snap out of her funk after winning her maiden WTA 1000 Trophy a month ago. Her draw is favourable with a qualifier waiting in R1.
