The 2021 Birmingham Classic is back into the WTA calendar after being absent in 2020 due to the pandemic. The grass event is one of the UK events serving as a preparation for Wimbledon. It will feature an overall financial commitment of $ 235,238 with Elise Mertens as its top seed.
Besides Mertens, we will see several other notable players as well including Jabeur, Vekic, Kasatkina, Ostapenko and more. The event is a WTA 250 event running from June 14th till June 20th. The defending champion is Ashleigh Barty who won the event in 2019 but she will not make an appearance this year.
The winner of the event will get 280 points along with $29,800. The losing player in the final will get 180 points and $16,398. The semifinalist will get 110 points along with $10,100. The lower rounds yield fewer points and prize money.
