2021 WTA Emilia-Romagna Open Draw with Serena Williams, Venus Williams and Coco Gauff

The 2021 WTA Emilia-Romagna Open will be the 1st edition of a clay event in Parma running from May 16th - 22nd headlined by Serena Williams and Coco Gauff.
With the Roland Garros closer by the day Serena Williams decided to take a wild cared into the 2021 Emilia-Romagna Open. This will be the first edition of the event held in Parma, Italy as a clay event serving as preparation for the Roland Garros. For a 1st time event, the event has a really strong field.
It is headlined by Serena Williams who will be joined by her sister Venus Williams as well as American teen sensation Coco Gauff. Besides them, we will see other notable players take part such as Amanda Anisimova, Petra Martic and Sara Sorribes Tormo. The event will be played on red clay and it will run from May 16th till May 22nd.
The event is a WTA 250 event featuring an overall prize pool of € 189,708. Serena Williams will be the 1st seed with Petra Martic the 2nd seed. Serena will potentially face Clara Tauson in the 2nd round which is a good test for Serena, especially on clay. She might face Caroline Garcia in the 3rd round with a potential matchup with Gauff waiting further up.

The whole idea of giving out wildcards is to give new & up-coming players a chance at getting as much circuit match-practice under their belts as possible. And this is a HUGE must and opportunity for these new kids on the block. Why curtail opportunities for these newbies in favour of stalwart monopoly?? That just isn't fair. At least give these lesser known players a chance to become more familiar at playing in bigger tournaments & give them also a chance of getting the crowds behind these underdogs.
