Top seed Iga Swiatek has lost some momentum after a blistering start to the season, but the World No.1 will hope to rediscover her form in New York. Swiatek could face stiff opposition in the quarterfinals, should she face the in-form Jessica Pegula. The American has reached at least the quarterfinals in her last two WTA 1000 events, and is sure to present a challenge to the Polish star.
Anett Kontaveit is seeded second at the event, and although the Estonian has experienced a dip in form recently, she could still defeat anyone on a good day. Kontaveit could meet Wimbledon finalist Ons Jabeur in the quarterfinals, with the Tunisian likely to feed off the energy of the lively crowd.
Greece's Maria Sakkari will have her work cut out for her should she make it to the quarterfinals, where she could face two-time Grand Slam champion Simona Halep. The Romanian is coming off a title run in Toronto, and is always a favorite to lift the title, regardless of surface.
In a battle between big-hitters, fourth seed Paula Badosa could take on the power of Aryna Sabalenka in the final quarterfinal match. Although neither woman has been particularly impressive at this point in the season, each has the ability to hit anyone off the court.
