The 2023
Eastbourne International takes place between June 26 - July 1, 2023 and is one of only a few combined ATP and WTA tournaments of the year.
Albeit the WTA is a 500 and the ATP is a 250 but it is one last chance for many to play before Wimbledon with the tournament the closest to SW19.
TennisUpToDate as ever runs you through both draws in a
preview with action starting on Monday.
American duo headline ATP Draw
Formerly played in Nottingham for a few years which has now become a Challenger, the ATP 250 in Eastbourne isn't as stacked as the WTA draw with
Taylor Fritz,
Tommy Paul and Nicolas Jarry the leading lights.
Fritz is the defending champion with both the American and his compatriot who he beat in last year's final, Maxime Cressy both returning to attempt to defend.
Alex de Minaur was also set to be involved but withdrew late as expected. He lost in the final of the Queen's Club Championships on Sunday evening so will not head to Eastbourne.
WTA Draw headlined by Rybakina as eight out of top ten head to the seaside
While in the WTA, it is firmly the opposite with eight out of the top ten heading by the seaside.
Petra Kvitova is currently in Berlin having won the Bett1 Open but is currently pencilled in to defend her title next week.
But Kvitova will not be the leading light at the Eastbourne International with
Elena Rybakina, the Wimbledon champion set to play.
Not only Rybakina but also
Caroline Garcia,
Jessica Pegula,
Coco Gauff,
Ons Jabeur, Maria Sakkari and Beatriz Haddad Maia are in the top ten seeds.
A firmly stacked field with equal prize money too for both tournaments.
Only Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka are not playing next week in Eastbourne. The former instead heads to Bad Homburg, while Sabalenka is practicing ahead of Wimbledon at SW19 after losing early in her only warm-up in Berlin.
