Amid losing her first group game fairly comfortably at the
WTA Finals,
Elena Rybakina again lamented the conditions as both her and Aryna Sabalenka singled out the courts on Sunday night.
Rybakina lost 5-7, 2-6 to Jessica Pegula who some predicted would go 0-3 in her group matches, but showed that she wasn't to be written off unlike the conditions at the WTA Finals in the mind of the Kazakh.
Speaking afterwards, she said that it is not good enough for the finals and that she tried her best as a result of the conditions which did not favour her game style and Sabalenka said in her post match musings that she felt unsafe on it.
“Overall, it’s not easy here. Everyone is struggling. Everyone is trying to do their best. As I said, I’m not really happy with the conditions & the set up of the tournament.. About the court, I don’t really want to talk.
"But of course, it’s not good. For sure not for the final 8. Because everything was late & there was no time to fix anything. You can see by the rallies & the shanks we both hit. I think the quality of the match wasn’t the greatest. But as I said, I tried to do my best.”
