Alexander Zverev won't be ready to play for Germany at the
Davis Cup Finals in November as he targets December as the return date.
The German has not played since Roland Garros where he injured himself leaving the court on crutches. Recovery went well and he was on schedule but suffered from bone edema which prologued his recovery even further.
There was hope that he might suit up for Germany for the Davis Cup Finalist but hope dwindled when the German Tennis Federation released a statement explaining that it's unlikely:
“At the moment it doesn’t look like Alexander Zverev will be ready for action again until the Davis Cup."
The team was announced today and Zverev is not part of lifting the veil about when he will return to the courts. The news of his participation at the Diriyah Cup in Saudi Arabia also came out and it comes three weeks after the Davis Cup Finals.
Team Captain Kohlmann said:
“These players have been convincing and deserve to continue the journey together. The team has developed an incredible sense of togetherness over the past few years, which, coupled with our playing quality, makes us an uncomfortable opponent for any nation.”
