Bianca Andreescu will not play for the rest of the 2020 season, she has announced ahead of Roland Garros which starts next week.
Andreescu has not played a competitive match since suffering a knee injury at last year's WTA Finals and decided against playing and defending her US Open title due to a foot injury sustained during her recovery.
It seems though that she is likely aiming at the next Grand Slam in the Australian Open as her earliest return date with the 20-year-old Canadian aiming for 2021 as her return.
"I have come to the difficult decision to skip the clay court swing this year," Andreescu said on social media.
"I will be taking the remainder of the season off to focus on my health and training. As hard as it was to come to this conclusion, I have so much to look forward to in 2021, including the Olympics; I want to use this time to focus on my game so I can come back stronger and better than ever."
