Bianca Andreescu has claimed the WTA Player of the Month award after having an undefeated August which saw her win both the Rogers Cup and US Open.
After having a 13-0 record to start the month, Andreescu won both tournaments; she became the first Canadian to win the Rogers Cup in 50 years and the first Canadian woman to win a Grand Slam in the open era.
The 19-year old has gone up to career-high World No.5; as a result which means she is now tied the previous best mark for a Canadian woman in the WTA Rankings.
Bethanie Mattek-Sands and CoCo Vandeweghe at the Western & Southern Open claimed the shot of the month when the former hit an around-the-net post winner over Latisha Chan and Chan Hao-ching which generated a lot of buzz.
Marie Bouzkova earned votes as August's Breakthrough Player of the Month after she reached the semi-final at the Rogers Cup from being a qualifier.
Over the course of her run, she defeated both Sloane Stephens and Simona Halep along the way as well as Jelena Ostapenko. The Czech ace took a set off Serena Williams in the semi-finals as well before losing out to the American.
