Karolina Muchova was playing another great match taking the opening set against Anisimova but an injury in the 2nd set forced her to retire in the 3rd 6-7(7) 6-2 3-0.
Muchova took down Maria Sakkari in spectacular fashion and she brought some of that tennis once again in round one against Anisimova. The former semifinalist lost the opening set in a very close tiebreak where Muchova proved better 9-7.
Muchova was up a break in that match three different times but every time she would break Anisimvoa would break back immediately. It was just an epic fight between the players. In the tiebreak, it was Anisimova who was up 5-1 but then lost 5 points in a row eventually losing the tiebreak as well.
The 2nd set was set to be another great one but Muchova rolled her ankle rather early in the match. She took a couple of MTO's but elected to continue playing. It was quickly evident that she is not playing as well as she did and Anisimova rushed to a 6-2 finish.
She continued dominating in the final set as well taking a 3-0 lead after which Muchova retired. There was no point in continuing.
