The final set opened with Bencic jumping out to a 2-0 lead after some bad misses by Leylah who rushed a lot. Bencic got a bit tight after that leaving Leylah a chance and she took it.

Nothing happened after that with both players holding their serves. A very poor one from Bencic gave Leylah the 5-3 lead. Belinda held for 5-4 and broke her opponent to make it 5-5 after some poor serving from Leylah. She broke Bencic once more at 5-5 to take a 6-5 lead and Fernandez was then finally able to finish it off with 7-5.
