Victoria Azarenka after beating Burel Vika: “I have a mom’s brain. Since my son was born, anything before that I don’t remember much… I think a lot of moms can relate to that.” 😂 *All the moms cheer*
Victoria Azarenka saw off a stern test in Clara Burel during her second round tie at the Brisbane International and now has her sights set on Jelena Ostapenko in one of the main ties on Friday but sent the crowds into fits of laughter after her post match interview on court.
Azarenka won through 7-5, 6-2, she seemed in good spirits and was quizzed about winning the same event 15 years ago. Of course a lot has changed since then including 'Vika' becoming a mother to her son Leo and she joked that she hardly remembers anything of her previous career moments since giving birth to her son. She called it having a 'mom's brain' and has little to no recollection of winning the title.

It has barring the win in Brisbane 15 years ago been a real happy hunting ground for the popular Belarusian, with of course winning two Grand Slams at the Australian Open in 2012 and 2013 and also reaching her first semi-final since that run during the 2023 Australian Open. She will hope for similar this time around off the back already of one of her best runs in a tournament for some time after a poor back end of the season after reaching the fourth round at Wimbledon.
