A match that was pushed back to today due to rain saw Aryna Sabalenka beating Kateryna Baindl in straight sets 6-4 6-1.
Sabalenka is a very good grass player and played in the Wimbledon semi-final last year. The Belarussian player opened her Den Bosch campaign with a strong win over her opponent despite facing some issues typical for her. She opened with an early break 3-0 playing some superb tennis and striking the ball cleanly.
She then ran into some issues losing that break and allowing her opponent to make it 3-3. Sabalenka then lost her serve once more for the complete comeback from Bainl who looked in a very good position to take over the first set.
It was then that Sabalenka finally decided it was enough and she took the break back. Despite facing break points she was able to hold her serve for the 5-4 lead and close it out with 6-4. A lot of issues for Aryna but she was able to power through. None of those issues were present in the 2nd set.
It was all Sabalenka from start to finish and she was able to finish it off just as the rain started falling again. Sabalenka had 10 aces in the match as well as 11 aces overall. All in all pretty good but those serving woes must be eliminated before she meets a strong player because it won't work.
