As expected, Aryna Sabalenka has kept a fairly low profile since the passing of her ex-boyfriend Konstantin Koltsov on March 18 prior to the Miami Open, but she shared her gratitude to her fans on her social media on Tuesday.
Sabalenka decided to continue playing at the Miami Open and lost out to Anhelina Kalinina in a match in which her frustration flew and she smashed her racquet. This was understandable though with her ex-boyfriend reportedly committing suicide in Miami just days prior.
She only decided to play Miami with the caveat that she would not have to do any media which was stuck to. As a result, Sabalenka has only took to her social media to share her messages.
This one thanking her fans for being there during a difficult time. Sabalenka will next play currently next week at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix Stuttgart where she has lost over the last few years in the final mainly to Iga Swiatek which saw Sabalenka funnily attempt to cave the window in of her new Porsche. It is a stacked field and a busy time but Sabalenka seemingly is taking time to grieve and regroup quietly outside of the public glare after such a tragedy.
"I want to take a moment to say thank you to all my fans for your outpouring love and support during this difficult time. Your kind words mean so much and I carry them with me every day. I am so grateful for you all," she posted on her Instagram story.
