Ashleigh Barty completely demolished Victoria Azarenka at the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati with 6-0 6-2.
It was a poor effort from Azarenka who got smashed by Ashleigh Barty. The world number one looked shaky in her previous match but put forward a rather overall solid effort to demolish the former world number one.
Barty was in control of the pace, she had an answer to anything Azarenka tried and the only thing that changed with each game is the frustration level of the Belarusian. After getting served a 1st set bagel she slammed her racquet in frustration.
That reaction did not snap Vika out of it and she continued playing lacklustre tennis. Barty took a 1-0 lead with a break, then a 2-0 lead, then a 4-0 lead before Azarenka finally stopped the bleeding by winning her first game of the match after 10 played games.
In the end, Barty cruised to a 6-2 2nd set finish to close out the match and complete the victory. The former defending champion will need to do more to exhibit the form shown in last years' hard court swing.
