Azarenka was twice a break down in set one and saved four set points before forcing a tie break which she won 11-9. From there, her experience showed through as she claimed breaks of serve in the opener and at 4-1 to win the second and final set 6-2.
Next up will either be Johanna Konta or Maria Sakkari who play in the final game of Wednesday's Order of Play. No.4 seed Naomi Osaka is also through after a comeback win against Anett Kontaveit. The two-time Grand Slam champion came from a set down to do so which was closely fought but from there she reeled off nine games in a row.
This included 29 winners en route to setting up a semi-final tie with Elise Mertens who dispensed of Jessica Pegula 6-1, 6-3 - who has been super impressive this week also. It is a second semi-final of the season for Osaka as she aims to put in a good run ahead of a US Open where she will be one of the favourites.
