Timea Babos and
Kristina Mladenovic capped off their stellar
Roland Garros run with a victory in the final against Guarachi and Krawczyk.
The final day of the Roland Garros 2020 started off with the WTA doubles finals where we saw Babos and Mladenovic defeat their opponents 6-4 7-5. It was an expected result as they were heavily favoured against Guarachi and Krawczyk who played stellar tennis en route to the final but in it, they were simply overmatched. The winning par enjoyed quite a bit of support as well as Mladenovic is French so that helped as well.
The first set saw three breaks in total with Babos and Mladenovic striking first before Guarachi and Krawczyk pulled it back. They could not replicate that result later in the set once they lost their serve once more so Babos and Mladenovic cruised to a 6-4 1st set victory. The 2nd set saw Babos and Mladenovic continued their solid play taking a 3-1 lead before losing it. At 3-3 the match became extremely entertaining and exciting as the next 6 games were all won by player's who received.
Guarachi and Krawczyk took the lead three times but all three times they could not hold it. Ultimately Mladenovic and Babos took the decisive 6-5 lead which they converted to a 7-5 victory. A great result for the pair as they did not expect it and for the fans as well as they saw a French player crowned champion.
