Paula Badosa needed three sets to battle past Kaja Juvan and reach the third round at
Roland Garros with a tie against Veronika Kudermetova awaiting on Saturday.
But for the third seed, she admitted that while she is not at her best right now, she showed the fighting spirit she wanted and that gave her confidence.
"I expected a match like that, she came in with a lot of confidence playing very well," said Badosa to reporters post match.
"Maybe I'm not at my best level right now but at least I fight until the last point and that's what won me the match today. These matches give me a lot of confidence that I'm back to being my competitive self again. That's very important for me because maybe I was struggling with that a bit."
"Today I think I was back in that competitive spirit and I'm very happy about that. The level is so high and you can lose to anyone. So there are surprises but they don't surprise me because I'm on tour so I know what you can find on court."
