Ashleigh Barty produced a very calm effort to outlast a very erratic Anisimova who had chances in the match but failed to convert them.
Right from the start it was evident that this was going to be a very good match. Anisismova entered the match a bit nervous but also brave which she demonsrated in the first game by saving a break point. Later on she would force break points on Barty's serve showing taht she wasn't going to step away like most of Barty's opponents did in the previosu round.
Eventually, Barty found a way and took a break which proved enough to secure the first set with 6-4. Barty was sensational on her first serve once again rarely dropping any points. She returned very aggressively and attacked Anisimova as soon as she could. The American did not handle the pressure to weel which is why she lost the first set.
The 2nd set opened with much better play by Anisimova who was serving really well to start. Barty was not and it allowed the American to take a 2-0 lead. Unfortunately, she did not hold it for too long as she tried to do too much. Barty created a lot of trouble with her slice forcing Anisimova to hit the ball wide. She did, quite often and it proved very frustrating for her.
Eventually, Baryt broke her in the 2nd set as well to take a 4-3 lead. She confirmed it with some stellar serving which was a very good sign for her. She did not serve too well at the start of the 2nd set but she found her rhythm once more and it proved enough to secure the 6-3 2nd set to finish.
