Ashleigh Barty crashed out of the
Adelaide International after losing to Danielle Collins in straight sets while Swiatek cruised past Inglis in two.
It was an abrupt end for Barty at the Adelaide International where American Danielle Collins was simply better and won in two sets. The match lasted only 67 minutes with Collins coming out on top 6-3 6-4. The American overall played a very strong tennis match overcoming adversity on both sets. Barty was up 2-0 in the first and 4-2 in the 2nd set and still failed to win either. She was passive on her 2nd serve winning less than 50 % and saved only 2/6 break points she faced. The American played well overall with great splits on both first and second serves. All of that combined contributed to her victory which she deserved.
Iga Swiatek had a much easier time in her match as Inglis similar to her compatriot struggled on the court. The first set was a dominating one from Swiatek who won it 6-1. Inglis had chances in that set and at times played well but Swiatek was just better. The Australian played much better in the 2nd set but as it went on Swiatek found ways to win more and more points and ultimately broke Inglis to take a 4-3 lead. She would then end it with 6-3.
