Belinda Bencic and
Coco Gauff reached the quarterfinals of the
Adelaide international following victories on Wednesday.
The two players had different experiences but a similar result in their matchups at Adelaide International. Both won and reached the quarterfinals but Bencic had a much easier time. The Swiss player dominated the match from match to start. It took her only 76 minutes to dispatch Doi whom she dominated completely from the baseline. The end result was 6-1 6-3.
Gauff, on the other hand, had to go the full distance to defeat Petra Martic and ultimately she did 5-7 6-3 6-4. It was a very shaky first set for Gauff who lost her serve three times and generally played worse than her opponent. She played much better going forward holding onto her serve thanks to much better play on her 2nd serve. She did not surrender her serve once for the remainder of the match breaking Martic once in every set for the comeback win.
