Barty overcomes slow start to reach Adelaide International final

Ashleigh Barty overcame a slow start en route to a 3-6 6-1 7-6(5) victory against Danielle Collins to the delight of Adelaide fans.

The hometown favourite overcame a slow start to down Danielle Collins in a match where service proved key. In the first set, Collins looked much more comfortable on the court hitting 79 % of her 1st serves compared to Barty who hit only 52%. She also kept her composure in key moments wining the only break point she was given while saving all 3 on her own serve.
After initially struggling Barty played much better in the 2nd set. She was particularly impressive on return winning 57 % of those points. While her 1st serve percentage improved only a little reaching 59 % at the end of the set. Despite that, she conveyed them much efficiently ending the set in a convincing 6-1 victory.
The third set featured a close battle only decided in the tie break. It proved quite a roller coaster as players couldn't win their serves. Barty remained calm and ultimately prevailed winning it 7-5.
Thanks to her victory the 1st rendition of the Adelaide International tournament will have an Aussie playing in the final. Barty will face Dayana Yastremska in the final after she defeated Aryna Sabalenka in the first semifinal. Before defeating Collins, Barty eased past Vondrousova in the quarterfinal.
