With her return to the WTA tour finally in the books, fans were left shocked at the improved slice shot used by British tennis star Emma Raducanu, although ATP compatriot Liam Broady is not surprised by the new addition.
Raducanu has been out of action for several months, having undergone both wrist and ankle surgery last year. However, the 2021 US Open champion made her return to the WTA tour at the 2024 ASB Classic, where she defeated Elena Ruse to advance to the second round.

The 21-year old halted a Ruse comeback to record a 6-3 4-6 7-5 win over the Romanian, using various shots during her victory. However, it was the slice that seemed to surprise fans, as many were left impressed at the ease with which Raducanu employed that particular shot.
With several amazed at Raducanu's new addition, it came as no surprise that it was one of the highlights of her match. A clip was posted by the LTA on Twitter, with hundreds of fans commending the former US Open Champion. British colleague Broady chimed in with some behind-the-scenes knowledge, stating Raducanu was so adept at the shot because she had been practicing the slice for months prior to her comeback.
